Daily Bible Reading Day 125

1Kings 8-9; Luke 23:39-56. Solomon completes the temple and his house and he has a long prayer of dedication to remind Israel that The Lord is good and gracious and omnipresent. He also reminds Israel that since God has provided them with such a great house that they are obligated to walk in God's ways. If they don't God will send them away from his sight. But if they repent in the foreign land God will bring them back to this land. Solomon gives Hiram, king of Tyre, some cities in Galilee but Hiram is not pleased with them. Solomon builds a fleet of ships to bring in his gold.

On the cross the one thief chides Jesus about saving them but the other admits that their condemnation is just but pleads with Jesus to still him. Jesus promises such. Then Jesus gives up his spirit and dies. Joseph of Arimathea takes the body of Jesus and prepares it for burial. They rested on the Sabbath.
